Survivor Leadership
We are all wired for connection; connection fosters healing. Relationships often get people into human trafficking, and we believe relationships can keep people out. Survivor community can reduce recidivism by decreasing loneliness and isolation, thereby minimizing risk. TFP believes that exposing our participants to the joy life has to offer is not only a healing, but necessary, part of recovering from trauma. Our participants work tirelessly, managing their trauma symptoms, sustaining employment, maintaining their sobriety and rebuilding their lives. This can make recovery feel daunting, rather than hopeful. By providing the structure for joy building activities, TFP renews participant’s hope that their new life is not only possible to sustain, but worth it.
We are working to build a community-led by survivors for survivors. We believe in making a positive and permanent impact in the lives of survivors by ensuring access to sustainable services. We aim to ensure that everyone has the option not to sell their bodies, have the opportunity to become free and stay free from exploitation, have the support to walk through trauma recovery, increase healthy connection with themselves and others, achieve educational and vocational goals, and a seat at the table to use their voice however they choose.
Our Approach
Safety
Safety can be shattered by exploitation and trauma. The purpose of this program is to help re-establish a sense of safety so that we can help survivors begin to rebuild. This is where we provide Intervention and Emergency Shelter.
Stability
Stability is stolen from survivors during their trafficking an exploitation. Through our comprehensive Case Management and Housing Initiative, we help survivors find and maintain stability.
Connection
We are all wired for connection. We believe that healing cannot happen in isolation, and community is the key to survivors achieving sustainable change. TFP offers survivors an opportunity to build connection with themselves and others through Peer Support, Purposeful Living, and Joy-Building.
